HAPS ADS Coaching Travel Award

Purpose:

The HAPS ADS committee is committed to helping HAPS members learn best practices for dissection, gross anatomy lab design, gross anatomy education, and human body donor stewardship. In order to better facilitate the advancement of gross anatomy instructors and labs, the committee has developed the ADS Support Team, which is a network of HAPS members who are experts in different gross anatomy specialties (e.g., dissection, lab design). These experts can then be connected with HAPS members who want to learn more about the different specialties. This funding would allow for either participants to visit their coach’s lab or allow the coach to visit the participant. In other cases, it could also help with funding to attend ADS sponsored dissection workshops (excluding those that may take place at HAPS conferences where Travel Awards are offered).

• Eligibility for the scholarship
  • HAPS member with active communication with a coach/coachee of the ADS coaching program
  • Demonstrate genuine interest in growing as an anatomist and educator by actively working with their coach/ADS Support Team virtually.
  • Lack of formal dissection training takes priority (e.g., does not have previous dissection training that utilized human anatomical dissections)
  • Both the coach and coachee must agree to present/report on their experience (can be in a variety of ways, based on conversations with the ADS): conference poster/presentation, webinar presenter, quotes for programs advertisement, manuscripts
• Offers
  • Rolling applications/acceptance-2 deadlines per year (one in Fall, one in Spring)
  • First deadline proposed for April 1, 2025 and October 1, 2025. 
  • Max of 5 granted per year
• Estimated budget needs (per person)
  • Transportation (mileage or airfare): estimated $250 roundtrip
  • Lodging: $150 per night (max of 2 nights)
  • Meals are the responsibility of the participant.
  • Max: $550 per person
