1994 the HAPS Executive Committee initiated a program of modest grants,
scholarships, and awards for anatomy and/or physiology faculty and
their students. These awards support the mission statement of the
Society, which is to promote excellence in the teaching of human anatomy
and physiology. Grants, scholarships, and awards are administered
through the HAPS Foundation.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS - ALL DUE DECEMBER 1, 2016
HAPS-THIEME EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING AWARD
To recognize and reward excellence in undergraduate A&P instruction. Award winners will be nominated by colleagues and will demonstrate the core values of HAPS. Award: $1500 cash award and registration at the HAPS Annual Conference in May 2017. Due December 1, 2016. Sponsored by Thieme Publishers as part of their partnership with HAPS that includes a 30% discount on all their products for HAPS members and their students.
GAIL JENKINS TEACHING AND MENTORING AWARD
This is an annual award for a HAPS member who demonstrates use of engaging learning activities to help students truly understand and retain the more difficult Anatomy and Physiology concepts with kinesthetic and active learning strategies using inexpensive everyday props. The award is also designed to recognize those willing to mentor other instructors to also incorporate active learning to benefit more students. Award: $1000 cash award provided by Wiley and registration waived for the HAPS Annual Conference in May 2017. Due December 1, 2016
THE ADInstruments SAM DROGO TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM AWARD
For the innovative use of technology to engage undergraduates in human anatomy and physiology. Award: $500 to attend the HAPS Annual Conference. Award recipients are encouraged to conduct a workshop featuring technology in education innovations at the conference. Due December 1, 2016. Three awards are available, all sponsored by ADInstruments, but use of ADInstruments equipment or software is not required.
ROBERT ANTHONY SCHOLARSHIP for new instructors in A&P
To encourage faculty during their first five (5) years of teaching anatomy and physiology to network with seasoned professionals by attending the HAPS annual conference. Award: Pays for registration fee at the annual conference. Due December 1, 2016.
CONTINGENT FACULTY SCHOLARSHIP
To encourage contingent faculty (definition here) to network with seasoned professionals by attending the HAPS annual conference. Award: Covers registration fee at the annual conference. Due December 1, 2016.
HAPS GRADUATE STUDENT/POSTDOCTORAL TRAVEL AWARD
For graduate students or postdoctoral students to attend and present a poster or workshop at the HAPS annual conference. Award: $400 cash and meeting registration fee is waived. Due December 1, 2016.
AWARDS UNRELATED TO THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE
HAPS INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP
To provide financial support to instructors of anatomy and physiology who want to take a HAPS Institute course. Award: Covers one credit of the tuition fee for one HAPS Institute course. Awarded at the start of each semester: due dates January 15, April 15, September 1.
For proposals that support student research projects or enrichment activities outside their home institution.Grant
recipients or their faculty sponsors are strongly encouraged to present
their project results in the form of a workshop or poster session at
the annual conference following completion of the project. Award: Up to $500. Due December 1, 2016.
The Faculty Scholarships are not available this year.
