The Department of Health Sciences (HS) at Gettysburg College invites applications for a full-time one-year position at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2012.  A terminal degree is preferred, but ABD’s will be considered.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach six courses per academic year (or its laboratory equivalent) in our rigorous undergraduate program.  Teaching competencies must include both lecture and laboratory of human anatomy and physiology.  These are taught as combined courses at Gettysburg College (Human Anatomy and Physiology I and Human Anatomy and Physiology II). The opportunity to maintain a personal research program will be available. Gettysburg College is a highly selective liberal arts college located within 90 minutes of the Washington/Baltimore metropolitan area. Established in 1832, the College has a rich history and is situated on a 220-acre campus with an enrollment of over 2,600 students. Faculty Position in Human Anatomy

THE FACULTY POSITION

Emory & Henry College in Emory, VA invites applications and nominations for a full-time faculty position in the college’s new Doctor of Physical Therapy Program.  The faculty member will teach courses in gross anatomy, including cadaver dissection, and in histology.  Teaching responsibilities will also include courses in neuroanatomy and in physiology, depending on areas of expertise. 

The faculty position requires a PhD degree and prior teaching experience, preferably teaching physical therapy students.  A physical therapist with a PhD is the preferred candidate.

The faculty member will be directly involved in the continued development of a new curriculum and in the design and development of the program’s anatomy laboratories.  In addition, faculty will be involved with student recruitment, advisement and retention, as well as scholarly pursuits in the area of faculty interest and expertise.    

Faculty rank, tenure status and salary are commensurate with qualifications and credentials.

THE PROGRAM

The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program will be located in Marion, VA, approximately 20 miles from the main campus of Emory & Henry College.  Approximately 24,000 square feet of space dedicated to the DPT Program has been acquired, with additional space available in a 170,000 square foot building adjacent to the DPT Program facilities. 

The program will enroll its first class in Fall 2012 with an anticipated inaugural faculty cohort of 4.  Additional faculty will be recruited and hired concomitant with the enrollment of students in Fall 2013 and Fall 2014.
