Welcome!

We’re happy to have you on board the Human Anatomy & Physiology Society (HAPS). You have joined over 1600 like-minded men and women interested in promoting excellence in the teaching of Human Anatomy and Physiology. We want to make sure that you receive the full benefit of your membership including all of the resources that are now available via our web site.  Be on the lookout for the following member benefits:

•HAPS Online, www.hapsweb.org, continues to improve, readily offering position statements, news from the A&P world, access to member-exclusive features, and more.  You will find the latest updates and resources here along with everything you want to know about the organization including access to membership lists, officer and board lists, governance documents, etc.  New resources include a step-by step process for cadaver lab design and a lab safety manual.

•The annual and regional conferences are outstanding educational meetings with topics about the latest developments in anatomy and physiology.  They facilitate a huge network of like-minded colleagues with whom you can communicate and share ideas and knowledge.  They also provide a chance to gain insight into current research and advances in technology and medicine.  Annual conferences usually start with a Saturday evening welcome reception, followed by four days of update seminars and teaching workshops.  Regional conferences are usually one to two days in length.

•The HAPS-Institute (HAPS-I) through a partnership between HAPS and the University of Washington, offers graduate level credit and in-depth, activity-based instruction for HAPS members looking to refresh or update their understanding of topics from renal physiology to detailed regional or systems gross anatomy. New HAPS-I sections are being developed and offered all the time, so you’re sure to find something that you can use to help develop your instructional armamentarium.

•The on-line quarterly newsletter, the HAPS EDucator, provides everything from teaching tips and research reviews to employment postings. Access at http://www.hapsweb.org/displaycommon.cfm?an=1&subarticlenbr=39

• Free online access to Anatomical Sciences Education (ASE), a Medline-indexed journal  that publishes articles related to all levels of anatomical sciences education including undergraduate, allied health, medical (both allopathic and osteopathic), dental, graduate and post-graduate programs, and covers the major disciplines of the anatomical sciences. Access at http://www.hapsweb.org/displaycommon.cfm?an=1&subarticlenbr=261

•HAPS also offers the HAPS ListServ, another valuable tool for communicating with fellow members, sharing ideas, and looking for assistance. Subscribe at http://www.hapsweb.org/displaycommon.cfm?an=1&subarticlenbr=165

•The new HAPS Histology database site is dedicated to providing medium and high resolution digital photomicrographs of human cells and tissues to the public domain, free of copyright, for any use, but especially for and by members of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society. The database is a Wiki, and requires a separate login from hapsweb.org.  For instructions on signing up to the Wiki, as well as viewing training videos on how to use the Wiki, go to:
