Credits and Fees

Credits:

A&P professionals who successfully complete HAPS Institute (HAPS-I) courses receive graduate level (500 level) biology credit through the
University of Washington (UW-Seattle).  UW-Seattle is regionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU)

Currently, HAPS-I scholars are not recognized as matriculated graduate students at UW.  The reason being that most of our participants use the credits for transfer or to satisfy credentialing requirements at the institution where they teach and are not pursing a degree at UW.  Any HAPS-I scholar who wants graduate nonmatriculated (GNM) status at UW or wants to enter a UW graduate program should contact the Director of HAPS Institute. Additionally the Director can issue a letter stating that HAPS-I courses are graduate level and would be accepted as such if the participant had been enrolled in a UW program.

You can expect about 16 or more hours of coursework for every unit of graduate credit.

Fees:

Course fees include UW-Seattle tuition and enrollment fees--there are no extra charges for academic credit. Because credits for HAPS-I courses are awarded by UW-Seattle, your grades, student records, and transcripts are managed by UW-Seattle (and not by HAPS or HAPS-I).

Our course fees are $250 per credit.

Compare that to the tuition at your local graduate biology department!  Or to the U.S. national average for part-time graduate students in life science (after student aid grants) . . . $1800 per semester!   And, we have Scholarships, too.
