Grants and Scholarships Home

In 1994 the HAPS Executive Committee initiated a program of modest grants, scholarships, and awards for anatomy and/or physiology faculty and their students. These awards support the mission statement of the Society, which is to promote excellence in the teaching of human anatomy and physiology. Grants, scholarships, and awards are administered through the HAPS Foundation.

Applications for all grants, scholarships, and awards must be submitted online.   Links to online applications are found on each grant-specific page along with deadlines, eligibility, and additional information.

 

SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS

HAPS-THIEME EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING AWARD

To recognize and reward excellence in undergraduate A&P instruction.  Award winners will be nominated by colleagues and will demonstrate the core values of HAPS.  Award: $1500 cash award and registration at the HAPS annual conference in May 2015.  Due January 1, 2015.  Sponsored by Thieme Publishers as part of their partnership with HAPS that includes a 30% discount on all their products for HAPS members and their students.

PRIMAL PICTURES AND HAPS SCHOLARSHIP

To recognize and reward one undergraduate A&P student.  Award winner will be nominated by his or her instructor.  Award: $1000 cash award, up to $1100 in travel expenses, and registration at the HAPS annual conference in May 2015.  Due February 3, 2015. 

HAPS INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP

To provide financial support to instructors of anatomy and physiology who want to take a HAPS Institute course. Award: Covers one credit of the tuition fee for one HAPS Institute course. Awarded quarterly, due dates Nov 15, Feb 15, May 15, and August 15.

FACULTY SCHOLARSHIP GRANTS

For proposals that integrate innovative and/or alternative pedagogy into existing instructional programs.Grant recipients are strongly encouraged to present their project results in the form of a workshop or poster session at the annual conference following completion of the project. Award: Up to $1500. Due December 1, 2014.

STUDENT GRANTS

For proposals that support student research projects or enrichment activities outside their home institution.Grant recipients or their faculty sponsors are strongly encouraged to present their project results in the form of a workshop or poster session at the annual conference following completion of the project. Award: Up to $750.  Due December 1, 2014.

 

TRAVEL AWARDS FOR THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE

THE SAM DROGO TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM AWARD

For the innovative use of technology to engage undergraduates in human anatomy and physiology. Award: Up to $500 to attend the HAPS annual conference. Award recipients are encouraged to conduct a workshop featuring technology in education innovations at the conference. Due December 1, 2014.  Two awards are available, both sponsored by ADInstruments.  

ROBERT ANTHONY SCHOLARSHIP for new instructors in A&P

To encourage faculty during their first five (5) years of teaching anatomy and physiology to network with seasoned professionals by attending the HAPS annual conference. Award: Pays for registration fee at the annual conference.  Due December 1, 2014.

CONTINGENT FACULTY SCHOLARSHIP 

To encourage contingent faculty (definition) to network with seasoned professionals by attending the HAPS annual conference. Award: Covers registration fee at the annual conference. Due December 1, 2014.  

HAPS GRADUATE STUDENT/POSTDOCTORAL TRAVEL AWARD

For graduate students or postdoctoral students to attend and present at the HAPS annual conference. Award: $400 cash and meeting registration fee is waived. Due December 1, 2014. 


THE PRESIDENT'S MEDAL

The President’s medal is an award to recognize a HAPS member who has provided exemplary service to HAPS.
